Carlos Martinez
Carlos Martinez has been part of Fieldwork since 1995, when he started with Fieldwork Denver and quickly learned the business from the inside out. Over the years, his role has grown alongside the company, giving him a practical understanding of Fieldwork’s operations, people, clients, technology, and the trust required to support high-quality research.
Carlos is Executive VP, Partner, Fieldwork, Inc., a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). Today, he oversees key areas of Fieldwork’s legal, technology, information security, and data governance efforts. He is a practical problem-solver and a bridge between the business and technology sides of the organization, helping Fieldwork modernize systems while staying focused on service, collaboration, and integrity.
His work has included supporting Fieldwork’s ISO 27001 certification, strengthening data governance practices, and helping guide technology modernization across the company. Carlos is especially focused on building systems that make Fieldwork stronger without losing the human touch that makes the company unique.
He believes the best solutions protect the business, support the teams doing the work, and make it easier for clients and participants to trust the process. His extreme focus on integrity helps guide how he approaches decisions, solves problems, and supports Fieldwork’s continued growth.
Carlos lives in Chicago with his wife, Crystal. Outside of Fieldwork, he enjoys travel, music, food, cooking, technology, and spending time with friends and family, including three adult sized, adult children, Danny, Jonah, and Gavin currently staking claim in sunny Arizona.
More About Carlos:
What’s your favorite qualitative research methodology?
Face-to-face research. When you put humans together in the same room and layer that with observation, something pretty close to magic happens.
What is your favorite part of working at Fieldwork?
The people. Fieldwork has always been a place where relationships matter, trust matters, and people care about doing things the right way. That combination is hard to find and worth protecting.
What is one thing people may not know about your role?
A lot of the work happens behind the scenes. Whether it is legal, technology, information security, or data governance, the goal is usually the same: help the business move forward while making sure we are protecting Fieldwork, our clients, and the people who participate in research.
