- In the end, its all about the Benjamins
Perhaps most importantly, we are adamant about pooling our purchasing and pricing efforts so that we can give clients truly competitive as well as superior service.
Along these lines, clients should know that Fieldwork has a pricing approach that reflects what we feel is the most forthright way of doing business – we try to make our prices competitive without giving deep discounts. We do this because, in our business, the small entrepreneur (independent moderator) is an important figure that deserves to be treated with the same level of fiscal respect that major end-users do.
This does not mean to say that we are unwilling to negotiate price discounts for large assignments. Neither does it mean that we are inflexible when a client wants to use us but has budget constraints that make it difficult. It merely means that we try to be very competitive in our base pricing.
Indeed, we do a price study every year in which we price out several projects with our Fieldwork offices and competitive companies (the Network allows us to do this with impunity) and our findings have been consistent for years: Fieldwork is at or below all of our major competitors when we compare bottom lines. While it may be that our prices seem high in some respects (our room rates can be slightly above average – although we adjusted that most recently) other elements are generally lower (incentives we recommend, for example) so that the final cost of our projects is almost always very competitive.
Furthermore, Fieldwork is not of a niggling nature. We know that the day-to-day needs of a client cannot always be anticipated and we’re reluctant to pepper our final bills with incidental items – our general approach is to absorb a reasonable level of incidental needs as part of the cost of doing business.
